Description
Oddly enough I logged in with the intention of finally adding the description/s for this image and the set. I realy never expected to have been given my first DD so thanks to Nyx-Valentine for the Feature. We (myself, Sophie (my girlfriend) and Manon the model) are all really stoked!
Also thanks to jas08 for deciding the albeit accidental name. Yes, it was a typo and was going to be changed to FW (Flash Works) (because the series was in part for practicing close proximity flash work) or potentially 'Pro Venus' as they are part of the groundwork for another project. In any case, we decided, once we stopped laughing that this one should remain named UNTITED.
And thanks also to all of you who have Fav’ed and commented (sensibly).
For those who want to know,……..The series and the day came about in part because I hadn't shot in a while and also because I have an idea I've been wanting too explore for a while. The idea in question (the Pro Venus project) requires some pretty precise and specific exposure and lighting along with a model who doesn't just have low body fat but who is also naturally muscular (not that that really shows in this particular image).
I created a little 'how it was done' thing here Untited Nude [2014 - TBR1] - How It Was which I would not go so far as to call a tutorial but someone may find it of use.
In any event I haven't done any flash work in years and so this was meant to be practice with the objective being to produce some simple, muted, bright, well keyed but even images with a strong or blown-out' back light. I also wanted to try out some tethered capture. Not so much because I needed to more just because I could.
The tools to hand were a tripod, Canon EOS 40D + 28-105 EF, Canon EZ 300 triggered via a PC shoe cord mounted on a cheap tabletop clamp/pocket tripod, a Youngnuo YN560-II and my MacBook Pro. I also ended up using my Ultrafire 1800Lumen bike light to assist the AF.
Shot in Manon’s tiny studio flat the shooting space was the space created behind the Futon / sofa-bed which meant not a lot of room to move for either of us thus limiting posing options (which I left to her (being more of an observer than a director).
As I mentioned, capture or shutter firing was done remotely via tetheted shooting with Lightroom. Aside from meaning I didn't have to crane my arm awkwardly to reach the shutter button it also allowed for vibration free shooting but there was also another benefit. With the laptop facing Manon she was also able to review the shots as well as me in real-time meant that what little direction I gave was immediately understood which ultimately made the whole process almost effortless.
Well for me at least.
And as for the Post work, it was Lightroom and almost non-existant with cropping probably being the biggest change to this particular image followed by Photoshop for the Watermark.
My grateful thanks to Manon the fabulous and no longer totally anonymous model, and please be respectful of her.
